Our Parish
The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church has as its purpose to share the new life in Christ among its faithful and through them, to the wider community as prescribed by the Holy Church down through the ages. While the Annunciation in Little Rock was established in 1920 and has been in its present location since 1983, Orthodox Christianity has spanned the globe since 33 AD. This parish is a part of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Detroit, which in turn is a part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, which is itself an exarchate of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople in the Western Hemisphere. This parish was originally founded by a small group of Greek immigrants, but today the Annunciation in Little Rock aptly reflects America, and is comprised of over 200 families representing 18 different nationalities all witnessing to the Good News of Christ, striving to reflect His love, and living according to the principles and discipline of the Holy Orthodox Church.
The Annunciation Family is a vibrant, growing community of faithful servants of God. Adhering to Orthodox Christian principles which are concurrently Scriptural, Traditional, Apostolic and Eucharistic, this church family continually searches for dynamic ways to please the Lord and better serve the needs of the Annunciation Church family, as well as manifesting the light of Christ to the wider community.
The Annunciation is at its very core a Christian family that faithfully comes together at the Eucharistic Banquet every Sunday to worship our Heavenly Father and in this light continually searches for ways to serve Him, His will, His Church and His people in all things. Regardless of whether we are doing something together that is religious, cultural, athletic, or social, through the Grace of God and in our shared love of Jesus Christ, all of our endeavors are sanctified in Him and we in turn are bound together in our shared faith and love for Him.
Many years of toil and selfless sacrifice has produced the Christ-centered parish that we today have the privilege to call our spiritual home: the Annunciation Greek Orthodox in Little Rock. Building on the good works of our fore bearers, we too humbly accept the sacred ministry that has been set before us by the Lord our God as we all joyfully strive to fulfill our responsibility as Orthodox Christians to share the Good News with all people and maintain the teachings, traditions and principles of the Orthodox Church for the sake of future generations.
